Scott finished 2nd in Round 10 at Atlanta Motor Speedway’s final night of the Summer Thursday Thunder Series. Not to bad at all seeing The Rocket has had some really tough breaks the last few weeks. Congrats go out to Scott for a great final finish to this hard fought series.

At Lowes in round ten Scott had some tough times that seemed to just intensify his struggle these last few races in the Summer Shoot-Out series at LMS.

For the first half of the race, Walker maintained a second place position in a dangerously claustrophobic field. As he was gaining on Scott Hensley, eyes were drawn to Nick Gill as he lost control of his car, hitting the turn two wall at full speed and bursting into flames. His bone-chilling wreck set the tone for the rest of the race as yellow flags were waved over five consecutive laps. The most notable crash, subsequently, was a turned over Kenzie Ruston.

Before the last restart, Hensley apparently ran out of gas and exited the field, leaving Walker to win the race and take the championship. He didn’t go unchallenged though. Justin Grimes, recovering from a black flag the round prior, came just short of passing Walker at several opportunities during the remainder of the race.

From what is posted on the Legends Nation Website, the next to the last round in the 2008 Summer Shoot Out Series was full of cautions, angry officials, and two drivers meeting and a delayed finish to the feature race.

Scott finished 15th after spinning coming out of turn 4 in the second part of the feature. The story can be read on the Legends Website!!

Once a year Legends and Bandoleros get to race the historic 1/4 mile track at Bowman Gray Stadium (NC).

This was a special annual race at a special place, the Bowman Gray Stadium, which is proudly called, “NASCAR’s longest running weekly race track.”

Scott was able to finish second; “If I only had a couple more laps I think I could have caught Evan and the outcome would have been different. What an awesome place to race. I am looking forward to this again next year.”

Wild.  That’s really the only real way to describe the finish of the Semi-Pro feature.  Countless yellow flags slowed the event as it was clear the lead was not the place to be.  Donny St. Ours led the early laps before Michael Brown made the bump-and-run work in turn two after 13 laps.  As the pack got to the third turn, St. Ours spun and several other guys got tangled up as well, leaving Brown in the lead.  Evan Swilling worked his way to second and stalked the leader until the final lap, when Brown went for a spin in turn two.  That set up a one lap dash to the checkered flag where Swilling cruised to the victory.

“I just don’t know what to say.  I never thought I would be here,” said Swilling.  “If he hadn’t spun out he would have won. I hit him down the straightaway and I let him go.  Going down into the corner he just lost it.”

The battle behind Swilling was just as wild as Scott Hensley got to second on the final lap as he passed Austin Hill, who ended up third.  Both had to come from deep in the pack, but neither had enough time to deal with Swilling, who had also won at the Summer Shootout earlier in the week.

Once again congrats go out to the Rocket for his very impressive finish!!

Back To LMS for the most important Round Nine on Tuesday (5th), then on to Atlanta for the final event in the Thursday Thunder Series there. Going to be a very busy and intense week for Team Hensley Motorsports,  Chris Rogers MotorSports,  and Scott the Rocket!!

From the Legends Nations Website this morning, it appears Scott rode a roller coaster high and low when running two features last night at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in the 2008 Summer Shootout in the Young Lions division of the Legends Series.

If you remember, round 7 was rained out and that caused there to be two feature races on the Round 8 date which was last night. The results we have from Legends nations show Scott finished 3rd in the round 7 make-up feature and 27th in the round 8 feature. The highs and low of racing can be hard to take but we hope Scott keeps his head up and return the next two weeks to end this series with a great hard charging finish.

YOUNG LIONS: DEMOLITION DERBY IN THE YOUNG LIONS LEAVES SOME DRIVERS MIFFED  ~ By Jason Buckley

Two races for some of the Young Lions racers almost seemed like two too many after numerous spins, wrecks, oil downs and chaos throughout the night.  The first of the two features was cut short by five laps, and the second only went a total of six laps before the checkered flag was thrown.  Through the smoke and mayhem it was Dylan Presnell driving to his second win during the Summer Shootout while Evan Swilling obtained his first.

In the first of the two features, a torrid battle up front between Presnell, Justin Grimes, Scott Hensley, Devin Jones and Bryce Walker kept the fans excited, that was until the yellows flew for wrecks and spins on the track.  Presnell led the majority of the race, taking the checkered flag first ahead of Grimes and Hensley.

In the second feature, frankly, it wasn’t much of a race. Three cautions flew in the first two laps, including one before the start of the race coming off turn four to get the green.  The race even got stranger when officials took the cars off the track completely to put speedy dry down after an oil down, then chose to run the Thunder Roadster race on the quarter-mile track before resuming the wreck fest.  After returning to green, the smash-em-up continued and officials ended up throwing the checkered flag with only six laps listed as being completed.

We are also working on adding some video to the site of some of the action Scott has seen this year.

The seventh round of the 2008 Quaker Steak & Lube Summer Shootout Series at Lowe’s Motor Speedway (NC) occurred Tuesday night, but the weather was once again a factor. Remember Round 5????

Rainy Night at Lowes...Again

It seems form the results posted on Legends Nations this morning that most of the races were ran, except the Young Lions in the Legends and the Outlaws in the Bandoleros. Personally as a spectator, I think this is a good decision, but we will have more on this later on today……

By the way, the make up from this “rainout”, will be NEXT Tuesday at Round 8. Should be very interesting!!!

They finally got the round 6 make up date ran and got the round 7 date ran as well. I don’t have many specifics because I been out of touch the past few days but what I have got is this.

Round 6 Scott finished 4th in the feature. We will have more n this in the coming days. This was the make up feature because of the rain on July 10th.

Round 7 Scott took the win!! Awesome!! It was his first win in this season’s Thursday Thunder Series and we will have more on this later……..

Gongrats Rocket!!!!!

We are having trouble accessing the web this morning here at the home base but while we can we will tell you, that Legends Nations Website is reporting the Scott finished 2nd last evening in round 6 at Lowes. I will have much more on this later on today if the net stabilizes…..

With an update finally from Legends Nation, it seemed this race was full of cautions and wrecked cars. It also had Scott finishing second and in the rear view mirror of  Dylan Presnell. Here are the results from Lowe’s

Dylan Presnell had the field covered in the Legends Young Lions feature on Tuesday night.  Once he took the lead from Austin Leitner on lap three, all the Lowe’s Motor Speedway officials would have needed to do was strap a light bar across the top of the young driver’s #83 machine and they could’ve taken the rest of the race off.

For the few laps that the Young Lions actually completed at speed, Presnell was at the front of the field.  Despite Scott Hensley, Leitner and Dylan Sawyer filling up his rear-view mirror at times, Presnell was on cruise control up front.  Then, when many of the Young Lions near the back of the field decided to make their Legends Cars into wrecking balls, Presnell stayed in front of everyone as the pace car ran out of fuel and spent much of the event at the Sunoco pumps getting serviced.

The pace car could’ve gotten all four tires balanced, gotten a nice clean windshield and an oil check while making the fuel stop because whether under the eight total green-flag laps or the dozens of caution –flag laps, Presnell was in command Tuesday night.

“I was wondering what happened to the pace car there,” said Presnell.  “That’s pretty funny.”

Once out in front, not only was it Presnell’s duty to show the way under caution, but also his duty to hold off the competition over several restarts during the race.  Some restarts were single file, some featured the choose, which lined up Leitner and Sawyer on his outside, but nobody was going to stop Presnell for the short period the green flag was out each time.

“We had a pretty good car, it just took a couple of laps to show it,” said Presnell.  “We ran really great in practice and I think I did pretty good tonight.  The first couple of races we have had bad luck, but we finally got a break here.”

After alternating between single-file and choose restarts throughout the race, Presnell was not upset by any means that the final restart of the night, on which the green and white flags waved simultaneously on lap seven, was single-file.

“It was actually relieving there,” added Presnell.  “It actually made me more comfortable having the single-file restart.”

Presnell got a great jump on the restart and cruised to the victory over Hensley, Sawyer, Leitner and Derek Hopkinson.

Final NOTE: Scott is in 2nd place in the points following this race, trailing 1st place by only 11 points!!!!

A quick note here:

The Thursday Thunder Series at Atlanta Motor Speedway was rained out last thursday. So the plans are to have a DOUBLE Feature This coming Thursday July 17th. We will have the results here when that happens!!

Despite heavy rains that flooded the infield at Lowe’s Motor Speedway Tuesday night, round five of the 2008 Quaker Steak & Lube Summer Shootout Series took place on a wet track.

We don’t have a lot of official results yet but Legends Nations website says Scott finished a very respectable 8th place in this very bad weather.

The Charlotte area was hit hard with a lot of severe weather last night and we will update here soon with more of the results.

It was a tough return to Atlanta Motor Speedway for Scott and the team.

Scott started 6th in the heat and finished 4th which put him starting 7th in the feature but a caution because of another competitors blown engine and a complete track oil down didn’t help his situation in the feature. The complete surface was oily and had oil dry residue on it and on the restart Scott tried his best but the car behind him made contact and he got into a spin on the slick surface but the outside car also seem to loos control and down he came into the back of Scott’s car. After another restart Scott knew something was bad wrong with the car but until he tried to turn it a couple of times to the left he didn’t know how bad things were. A bracket on the rear Shock was broken and is ended his night and his his return to AMS.

Scott finished in 15th place and vowed to return again and make up for this week of bad luck.
